RAMPS 1.4 Arduino Mega Shield

RAMPS 1.4 Arduino Mega Shield is an all-in-one design to fit the necessary components for a 3D printer into one plug in shield for an Arduino MEGA. The plug in shield design includes plug in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics sockets for easy service, part replacement, upgrade-ability and expansion. Additionally, a number of Arduino expansion boards can be added to the system as long as the main RAMPS board is kept to the top of the stack. Ramps boards are the heart of most DIY 3D printers on the market and a nice clean compact way to integrate all the systems into a compact enclosure mountable format.

A4988 Stepper Motor Driver

A4988 Stepper Motor Driver Module is a breakout board microstepping driver with translator and overcurrent protection. This stepper motor driver controls one bipolar stepper motor at up to 2 A output current per coil i.e., in full-, half-, quarter-, eighth-, and sixteenth-step modes, with an output drive capacity of up to 35 V and 2 A. Adjustable current control allows to set the maximum current output with a potentiometer, hence can use voltages above your stepper motor’s rated voltage to achieve higher step rates. The A4988 interface is an ideal fit for applications where a complex microprocessor is unavailable or is overburdened. One pulse on the STEP input can drive the motor one microstep. There are no phase sequence tables, high frequency control lines, or complex interfaces to program.
